Flying With Pets
The ins and outs of flying with animals from a medical and practical perspective
About this session
Dr. Rosemarie WIlliams and Eric Jones join their skills and experiences to help you understand the unique needs and planning for safety and comfort of both pilots and animals. Both will discuss ways to help animals be happy and unstressed in flight, how to work with shelters (including the preflight question list to avoid unpleasant in-flight surprises), and how to load them (i.e., restraint, crate management). Dr. Williams will discuss the physiology, psychology, and neuro-cognitive sides of animals in transport, including effects of altitude and CO toxicity in various animals. Eric will briefly discuss tax-deduction implications of use of your plane or a rental plane, and various nonprofits, including his regular beneficiary, Pilots & Paws.
