EAA Chapter 663 June IMC Club Meeting

EAA IMC Scenario Presentation for Aeronautical Decision Making

About this session

The EAA IMC Club provides a "hangar flying" experience organized around visual flight, in order to promote safety, education, and proficiency.

Every meeting consists of a scenario presentation and group discussion about unusual or interesting charts, changed rules and procedures, and member experiences.

The scenario titled " Pressured " describes an actual flight as follows:

In this scenario, our pilot is making a 320-mile IFR flight in a Cessna 177 Cardinal, with most of the flight expected to be in IMC. Given that this was a late afternoon departure, what additional planning should be done with respect to both your intended destination, as well as an alternate in case you need to divert?

Bring your EFB, your experience, and your questions, and be ready to participate.

All are welcome.  You do not need to be an EAA member to attend

We will also be discussing how you can earn WINGS Credit.

What is the EAA IMC Club? EAA provides monthly program resources in the form of actual IMC (InstrumentMeteorological Conditions) related scenarios designed to encourage open discussion, and for all participants to answer the question “What would you do if this happened to you?” What is the purpose of EAA IMC Club? The purpose of EAA IMC Clubs is to promote flying, proficiency, and safety. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share information, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in flying. EAA IMC Clubs are extensions to local EAA chapters and offer monthly IMC program meetings where pilots can network and share knowledge and experiences. Do you need to bring anything? First, bring your thoughts or story and be willing to share them with the group. This meeting is very interactive. Participation by the group is a fundamental element to the EAA IMC Club meeting. Others have found it helpful to bring along a copy of their flight manual, GPS manual, and charts. If you navigate with an iPad, bring it along.
